Bay and Bloor is not the Bay and Bloor you Remember
Rare timing allowed me to hang with a friend in the Bay and Bloor area of downtown. She lives in one of the older towers tucked in between Bay and Yonge Streets. It had been many years since I visited the neighbourhood and as I drove in (slowly) on Bloor Street, Toronto looked familiar to me until I came close to Yonge. Then strange new buildings greeted me and I almost lost my bearings. Once I had hidden my car in underground parking, we went for a walk – not very far as there was a heat advisory in place […]
Stratford Festival 2016
If you are a Shakespeare or play fan in general who is visiting Ontario there is one place you must visit to fulfill your theatrical need. I’m referring to Stratford! Stratford puts on a series of plays shown in theaters close to one another in the town. This year my aunts took my brother and I to see a play version of the book, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis. The play itself was incredible. The aspect that impressed me the most were the sets, due to the fact that the main characters travel from […]

Nation’s Capital
Ottawa has been the Capital of Canada since 1857 when Queen Victoria chose a town half way between Montreal (the French centre) and Toronto (the English centre). Since then, the Capital has flourished as a blend of the two cultures offering a unique living experience. The houses of Parliament, dating back to the 1880s, have a stunning view overlooking the Ottawa River and the historic Rideau Canal, which winds its way 198 km to Kingston Ontario. In summer, thousands of boaters travel the Rideau Canal and, in winter, it is transformed into the world’s largest skating rink. Other historical sites […]
