The concept of a unique Apple Route for tourists was determined at a Brighton Council Chambers meeting in April 1993. Representatives of five local municipalities and the Presqu'ile and District Tourism Association decided it was time to work together to promote the apple history of this lush growing area.

Nearby Barnum House is a fine neo-classical domestic building in Ontario. Built in 1819 by Eliakim Barnum, it is located west of nearby Grafton on Hwy 2.

Colborne Art Gallery offers a collection of a diverse group of creative people working independently in a variety of media. Paintings, drawings, etchings, pottery, and sculpture are displayed January through March on Saturdays and Sundays, and April through December on Thursdays through Sundays.

Colborne has historic murals, vintage architecture and supposedly the widest main street in the county, as well as a remarkable park.
